Super 8 by Wyndham Athabasca AB

Spent 2 days at this Super 8, Thursday and Friday July 3&4, 2025. So impressed! Staff were incredibly professional and helpful, and really helped us out since we didn't have a reservation. First thing we noticed was how clean Everything was! It even smells clean! Not disinfectant clean, just clean...like home. Our room was spotless, honesly spotless. Haven't seen a hotel this clean since our 4 star Mexican visit. The bathtub gleamed. I'm fussy as heck - so it surprised me as well. Very good beds, lovely linens, and 4 pillows on each bed! With the blackout blinds and it being so quiet we both slept amazingly. Overheard folks at breakfast saying they hadn't had such a good sleep in ages! We agree! The pool and hot tub are salt not chlorine. A very nice feature! Again, super clean! Floors, pool, chairs, all spit spot. Must say that pool is Very Chilly though. We swim regularly and it was tough to get in and we were super cold when we got out. Even laps didn't help us warm up. So that's a small complaint, maybe most travelers don't swim? IDK The breakfast was fine. Nothing fancy but well prepared. Hot was hot, nice yogurts and fruit. Milk, juice etc. Nice selection. Coffee, tea, and juice available all day and evening. Good coffee too. Could maybe suggest a couple more caffeine free choices of tea, but really appreciated We would not hesitate to refer our friends and family to stay here. Thank you

We stayed here one night. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, breakfast, newness of the hotel and bedding quality of this hotel. I normally would not choose a Super 8. I like something a little higher end, but there’s not much choice in Athabasca. Mattress, pillows and sheets were very comfortable, I had a great sleep. Staff were friendly. I would recommend.

Working in a nearby town and staying here. The people here are amazing and helpful. They greet with warm smiles and you leave conversations with them feeling heard and taken care of. I noticed a lot of posts mentioning rude management and closes pools, but the pool is open and havwn't had a bad interaction at all with any of the staff. I've been here for two weeks already and for a various nights the month before as I was working a job out here on and off.

Great hotel for the $ and I was born/raised in Athab. Totally impressed with how clean everything was. Yes the front desk attendant is not there so pick up the phone and dial 0 and he arrive is less than 60 seconds. Our only gripe is that the pool doesn't open until 10 am and check out is 11 - so you can only use the pool in the evening. All other pools open at 7am. This was a fail for us as we booked for the pool - that was closed

Everyone at the hotel was very helpful and nice. Salt water pool is lovely. The entire property is exceptionally clean. Breakfast was better than most hotels. Beds were comfortable. All in all a great stay.

Location was good. Room was great, especially for my needs; it was clean, beds were comfy and it had everything a family would want (stove, fridge, mwo, coffee) for a stay. TV options were above par. The breakfast was decent and there was room to sit, though I don't think the hotel was busy when we visited. Staff was friendly and the room ended up costing less than I expected My only complaint was that though the pool area was clean and setup very nicely; I felt the pool was cold, the waterslide was running on sleep mode (like it needed a start button pushed) and the jet tub was not working right (like you needed to turn it on even though it was) and it was a bit cool. I mentioned it to the guy a the front desk, it would have been nice if someone would have come and checked it. Also, more a novelty than a complaint, but the clock by the hot tub was going back in time. Overall though, I would return. Having read some of the recent reviews I was expecting less than I got.

Was here for 2 weeks for work. Rooms were fairly quiet, very comfy beds, nice pool/hot tub with waterslide. The included breakfast is very good and never got bored of it. Staff seems to be very busy quite a bit but helpful when they're available. If your on night shift advise to ask for the silent rooms. Definitely take all these reviews with a grain of salt, I don't think it deserves a 1 star. Yes the ice machine still doesn't work, not the end of the world. Overall very nice hotel, kind helpful staff would be happy to come here again

I was shocked. The customer service was well above par, and the common areas are clean. Housekeeping was friendly as well. The room was exceptional and clean, I didn't even find a stray hair laying around, super impressed. My room faced the highway, so it was a little noisy but bearable. Other guest noise was minimal. The pool area was just fixed and filled, so I can't really comment, I did take a peek, and I didn't realize there's a waterside. The gym is small but has everything you need for a really good workout. Water and towels are provided. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because of the breakfast. There was nothing left before 9am when I went, and they shut it down shortly there after. Luckily, there is an A&W next door. Overall, it was a good and I would stay here again.
